A reputed food manufacturing business undergoes a comprehensive infrastructure transformation to enhance overall performance and security, with a focus on bolstering disaster recovery preparedness and ensuring seamless business continuity.
A renowned establishment since 1951, upholds their rich legacy by combining the finest natural Indian ingredients with artisanal baking traditions. Their commitment to delivering fresh and delectable bread remains unwavering. With an extensive reach through major food distribution networks, they have been serving a multitude of Indians with their exceptional bread products, spices and ready-to-eat food items.
Client faced significant challenges due to their utilization of outdated infrastructure and various software systems, including PSI Application and Database, Work Force Management, Sage Software, and other utility applications. The Windows server active directory encountered persistent issues, and security vulnerabilities were present on multiple fronts, compounded by the absence of offsite backup.
The primary objective was to enhance overall performance and fortify the security infrastructure. Additionally, it was crucial to develop and implement a comprehensive disaster recovery strategy to ensure the bakery’s resilience in the face of unforeseen events.
Recently, Client engaged WWN Solutions to undertake a Proof of Concept (PoC) project aimed at formulating an infrastructure transformation plan. The objective was to upgrade the PSI Server from Windows Server 2008 R2 to the latest version, Windows Server 2019, along with the most up-to-date versions of the PSI Application and SQL. This upgrade was essential to retire their outdated hardware that was no longer covered under warranty.
The project also encompassed the development of a multi-site failover backup strategy to enhance disaster recovery preparedness. A network-attached storage (NAS) solution was implemented to facilitate local server backups, ensuring that user data remained synchronized and securely backed up. The project also addressed the issues with the Active Directory by setting up a secondary domain controller for backup purposes. Furthermore, the network connectivity and capabilities were upgraded, and a terminal server was established to provide users with appropriate rights and permissions. To meet their standards, all line of business applications were upgraded to their latest versions, guaranteeing optimal performance of the infrastructure.
Overall, the solution provided by WWN Solutions successfully modernized client’s infrastructure, bolstered disaster recovery preparedness, and improved overall performance in alignment with their requirements and standards.
Enhanced Backup and disaster recovery time
To enhance backup and disaster recovery time, we implemented a comprehensive backup strategy for Client. Four backup solutions were integrated: Microsoft Windows Backup, Veeam Backup to NAS, Veeam Backup to Cloud, and a specialized backup system that covers both onsite and offsite scenarios, including disaster recovery situations. This setup ensures the rapid recovery of server operating systems and data from local backups, significantly improving disaster recovery capabilities.
Scalability
In terms of scalability, Client now has the flexibility to adjust their infrastructure based on business needs and cycles. They can easily scale up or down server resources as required, enabling efficient resource allocation.
Performance
The project also focused on enhancing performance. Workloads can now be easily scaled up or down to meet specific performance requirements. This improvement in availability and capacity allows for optimized performance across the infrastructure.
Enhanced Security & Compliance
The security and compliance of the network were significantly strengthened. We introduced a terminal server that grants users proper rights and permissions, ensuring secure access to resources. Additionally, we implemented patch automation through Managed Services, incorporating Managed Anti-Virus and a comprehensive Managed Security Portfolio. Strong group policies and password protection measures were also put in place, further fortifying network security and compliance.
Overall, these measures significantly enhance backup and disaster recovery capabilities, scalability, performance, as well as security and compliance for Client
